This Melbourne based perfume brand is created by husband and wife team – Josh and Jules. Some of our favourite faces here at Lore Perfumery, Josh and Jules live around the corner from our flagship store on Brunswick Street, Fitzroy so we’re lucky enough to see them quite a bit. This Melbourne made range is a true product of Australia, with each perfume telling the story of Josh and Jules’ relationship and adventures in and around Melbourne. First of all we love how this whole range smells…secondly and almost as much, we love how being from and inspired by Fitzroy amd it’s local surrounds…we feel like we can almost claim them as our own. So proud of Josh & Jules’ perfumed ode to their long standing and inspired lives in Fitzroy are we.
HOW IT WEARS
Petrichor Plains is an Eau De Parfum that will last easily 6 – 8 hours on the skin. Notes of deep green rosemary, literally rained upon and softened by infusions of violet, iris and a little bit of cardamom, give this scent a delicious deep, earthy fragrance reminiscent of heat and an air of cool combined. A deep, long lasting wear that smoothes and mellows over time, after some hours of warm flesh to diffuse it’s dry down. Never overpowering, but definitely there for the longevity of it’s wear.

We just adore this fragrant ode to a heat fuelled thunderstorm. A Fitzroy thunderstorm to be precise, as it was initially inspired, but could really be anywhere inner city in the world…where fresh rainfall meets hot tar and the deep green of hardy, inner city flora blooms and thrives against the atmosphere of concrete, tar, bricks and mortar. The scent of inner city living inextricably entertained with the omnipotent force of Nature. Long, hot Summers and sweet relief. Simultaneously warm, cool, earthy and divine.

As the name suggests this airy and rainy little number gets me excited for those summers days broken by rain, creating an eruption of scent. Just like a Melbourne thunderstorm after a warm summer day Petrichor Plains settles into an astonishing scent of watery asphalt, woody parklands hit with rain and delicate throws of an almost herbaceous drink. Petrichor Plains is sure to impress.

This was one of the first perfumes I fell in love with working here. For me the scent evokes a humid summers day in Fitzroy, just after a burst of rain on the hot pavement. The violet and rosemary heart notes are refreshing and remind me of the greenery spread throughout Fitzroy, while the sandalwood in the base is creamy and comforting. It’s a Melbourne thunderstorm in a bottle and a must have in any collection.
