About the brand
Created in 2005 by Romano Ricci, the Juliette Has A Gun collection tells the story of the evolution of a woman – Juliette. Each fragrance an “episode” in her life, this line explores every facet of femininity in a totally unique and contemporary way. At the inception of the brand, Romano’s olfactory muse was the rose, which remains a key note throughout the line. Now, the Juliette has a Gun range has expanded to a large collection featuring fragrances from every category – fresh, clean, earthy, musky, spicy – the list goes on!
While untrained as a perfumer, Romano was born into the world of fragrance. The great-grandson of perfume icon Nina Ricci, he has couture, style and perfume in his blood. Growing up, Romano often visited the perfume factories owned by his great-grandmother, and his grandfather would show him the ropes, educating him on the fragrance trade and the intricacies of perfumery. While as a young man he pursued racecar driving, eventually Romano succumbed to his true calling – fragrance. His perfume – his art – is designed to break the rules and reset the moulds of the perfumery world.
So, in 2005, the brand was created as Romano’s ode to the modern woman. Juliette drags Shakespeare’s tragic love story into the present day – she is no victim, and she is never without her weapon – her fragrance. Never one dimensional, Juliette has a Gun’s perfumes are where innocence and romance meet rock ‘n’ roll, she can be the seductive temptress, the playful flirt, the bold powerhouse or the chill, laid-back hippie. Romano’s goal was to create a collection that both intrigues and seduces people of all genders, and we think that has been achieved. His collection is complex and original but still rooted in perfume tradition. Juliette has a Gun is a collection of contrasting and contradictory practices, scents and stories.
