Robert Piguet
Robert Piguet is an iconic French perfume line that changed the world of perfumery. The Swiss born Robert Piguet moved to Paris to pursue his dream of fashion design, beginning his career at legendary houses Poirot and Redfern. In 1938, Piguet opened the House of Robert Piguet where he would become renowned for his stylish elegance, simplicity and perfect cut. Through The House of Robert Piguet, he trained some of the most esteemed designers to this day. Those such as Hubert de Givenchy, Christian Dior, Pierre Balmain and Marc Bohan learnt the art of haute couture from the man himself. Dior personally credits Piguet for teaching him the “virtues of simplicity through which true elegance must come.”
While Piguet’s impact on fashion is indisputable, it is his legacy in the world of perfume that has made Robert Piguet legendary. Working with perfumer Germaine Cellier in the late ‘40s, it was Piguet’s fragrances Bandit and Fracas that acted as the watershed to a new era in perfumery. These were said to “have a particular feel very characteristic of his trademarks: Strict adherence to good taste, true luxury, and an innate sense of seduction.” Well known for his phenomenal accomplishment of the classic scent Fracas in 1947, Robert Piguet has achieved international cult status since, known for his ability to create the most elegant of fragrances with the most legendary perfumers of his generation.
