Creed
The House of Creed was founded in 1760. James Henry Creed originally founded the house in London, supplying the English Royal Court with custom tailored clothing, scented leather gloves and commissioned fragrances. In 1781, James Creed created the first official Creed fragrance for King George III and his Court, titled Royal English Leather.
It was in fact Henry Creed II (third generation) to take the perfume house across international waters. Expanding the brand throughout Europe he was heralded for creating the most beloved scents, commissioned by Europe’s monarchy. In 1854, The House of Creed officially relocated to Paris where the house continues to reside today. In 1870, Creed received a Royal Warrant for their dedication for providing fragrances to royal houses throughout Europe.
Since the early 1900’s Creed focused on providing commissioned fragrances to royal houses, celebrity clientele and the political elite. To this day, Creed still focuses on handcrafting uncommon fragrances for its discerning clientele. It was in the 1970’s that Creed made their fragrances available to the public to purchase in their Parisian boutique – including those commissioned for celebrities and royals alike. Client consent is always acquired before this occurs, and out of respect, if a client has passed away, Creed will wait at least 10 years after their passing, then gain consent from the family before releasing the scent to the public. Some notable scents in the collection are Original Vetiver worn by JFK, Spring Flower worn by Audrey Hepburn and Fleurissimo worn by Grace Kelly.
Spanning seven generations thus far, The House of Creed’s ethos is in creating the highest quality fragrances with the purest elements from around the world. Each scent is weighed, mixed, macerated and filtered all by hand in the highest tradition of the House’s founder, James Creed. All Creed fragrances are made up in a concentrated Eau de Parfum strength known as Millesime. An infusion technique now abandoned by the modern industry that enables Creed to preserve the originality of their timeless fragrances. Seeking out the purest elements from around the world to continue the art of Creed’s perfume making—a timeless, yet modern take on history, bottled.
