Founded by David Benedek, BDK is afragrant ode to his love, his city, his home, Paris. His intention is to bridge the gap between scent and imagination through his fragrances as they take you on a journey, much like reading a book. With fragrance running in his family, as his grandparents opened a Parisian perfume boutique in the 1960s, it is no wonder then that the scents of BDK pay such brilliant homage to quintessential notes like saffron and rose, working with the best quality raw materials to give each note a story of its own.

Collection Parisienne
Fragrances that take a sensory journey through the districts of Paris.
She dances across the room in her 4th floor apartment which overlooks the Palais Royal gardens. The unmistakable scent of spring is in the air, that dewy fresh floral aroma makes her smile as she notices the hints of fresh fruit mingling with rose and jasmine.
On the Saint-Bernard Quay, night falls, cocktails ensue and bodies dance together. A couple meet and spend the night together. In the early morning, their crumpled sheets give off the scent of a mischievous sleepless night – fig, tea, cardamom, bourbon, iris and sandalwood.
In the garden of the Palais Royal, a couple meet. Their conversation begins over a novel however it continues until the wee hours. Time passes without either of them noticing that night is beginning to fall. The scent of roses throughout the garden softly fills the air yet the sand beds can also be smelt and the array of spices are both intriguing and alluring.
She’s finished work and headed to the cabaret at Place de la Concorde. A regular, she’s the most desired woman there; she spends her evening dancing, drinking and enjoying herself. When she settles on a partner to dance with she eventually whispers ‘pas ce soir’ (not tonight) as she leaves and all that remains is an intoxicating scent – spices mingling with juicy fruity notes, heady orange blossom mixed with sensual woods.
In Pigalle, the sky is misty, and it amplifies the appearance of the street’s bright red lights. She’s getting ready, a cigarette hanging from the corner of her painted red lips. She wears a tailored tuxedo, the quintessential Parisian bohemian. Her scent? A tart cherry that blends perfectly with juicy berries then heads into a smoky, warm, delicious vanilla base.

There are pink roses, sweet roses, yellow roses for friendship, and red roses bound up for lovers’ gifts. Then there are some roses that defy all these conventions and burn up the books of poetry written about them with the same antique lighter used for their cigars. Tabac Rose is such a rose, sprinkledwith pink pepper and dashed with lemon, before indulging in cinnamon shortbreads and gourmet dark chocolates (you know the ones they sell from those fancy glass cabinets and are lashed with caramel), deepened by pure tobacco, distilled patchouli, and viscous resins. A sticky rose, an intoxicating rose, a wicked rose.
Some things never get old, only better. And if the bright, sparkling chypre notes of French Bouquet is anything to go by, the enduring scent of quintessentially French fragrance has a bright future ahead of it. Puffs of powdery aldehydes, spiked with bergamot, swirl around blooms of rose, jasmine, and orange blossom, they are then bolstered by vetiver, patchouli, and ladbanum. Like a Dior New Look silhouette, or Chanel No. 5, or the city of Paris itself, it is difficult to resist the nostalgic pull of a good classic.
Brimming with honeyed luxury, Ambre Safrano places the sophisticated warmth of saffron on a precious altar of scent, surrounded by bowls of rich, ripe plums; bales of smooth, inky leather; and handfuls of velvet, blush roses. The wearer who offers their skin to be gilded with this ancient ritual of fragrant opulence will find vanilla and sandalwood and olibanum to be brimming in the depths of this scent’s devotion, like the amber orb of the sun blazing against the dusk, like the burnished heat of a thousand candles glowing gold.

There is so much to say about tuberose, a flower long lauded and judged for its association with sensuality and provocation. Those creamy, soft petals (innocent enough to look at) have been weighted down with centuries of suspicion, that the wearer of their scent might be too powerful, too bold. Tubéreuse Impériale is a triumphant entry into the modern perfume world’s quest to reclaim the delights of this beloved floral, arranging tuberose in its purest form with geranium, jasmine, iris, and ylang ylang, then warmed with comforting cashmere, smoky incense, and fresh cypress. Not too heady, but still carnal, this is a tuberose borne on a warm summer breeze, flowing freely and with promise.
Velvet Tonka is, in a word, delicious. Like an impossibly complex dessert that you always have room for one more bite of, this scent layers sweet marzipan with fresh orange blossom, hints of rose and chocolate, all baked to perfection around a final tier of tonka bean absolute, the older sibling to vanilla. Captivating and potent, dreamy and heady, gourmet and lush.
This scent is modern art in a bottle. Slick, abstract, often enigmatic but only made better by its indecipherability. A bright splash of pineapple and mandarin is a bold opening of colour to the smooth lines of white suede and sandalwood at its heart, with pops of pink berry exposing the distinct sense of fun behind the overall concept of sophisticated sensuality. Think a Rothko painting, or a 1970s conversation pit with an orange lounge,or a buttery smooth cream jacket. Minimal but expressive, this is a leather scent for the contemporary nose.
